The continuing boom in rail patronage was maintained in the April-June quarter of with strong growth recorded in all sectors, according to the latest National Rail Trends quarterly bulletin, published last week by the Office of Rail Regulation.
Analysis shows that, taking a rolling year, the number of passenger journeys was 6.5% ahead at 1,245 million, whilst the number of passenger kilometres was 6.3% up at 49.8 billion. Passenger revenue was 11.1% up at £5.7 billion.
