I write with reference to the recent letter about yellow school buses from Paul Osborne of Sustrans (Letters LTT?19 Sep).

The Yellow School Bus Commission year-long review considered the whole issue of travel habits very carefully. We took on board the views of children and parents, and recognised the obvious difference between the US and Britain.

We agree that, where practical and possible, children should be encouraged to walk and cycle and applaud those initiatives that have successfully...
