Economist questions value of more money for buses

Whilst Boris Johnson’s announcement that the HS2 project would get the go ahead received acres of coverage the allocation of extra funding for buses received comparatively little attention. One exception this was an article in The Economist on 15 February. “Everybody wants buses,” this began. “They just don’t want to use them.

“Never mind the snazzy, expensive railway line that the Government grudgingly approved on 11 February,” the magazine said....
