In 2009 here in Cumbria we suffered devastating floods. Windermere, England’s largest lake at ten-and-a-half miles long, rose by nine feet in a day. Everybody said it was a once in a hundred year event. Since then we have had two more devastating floods and nobody talks about a hundred years any more, it has become something to expect whenever it rains heavily.
