When Kim Purcell joined Arriva’s graduate programme in August 2006 she never imagined that 21 months later she would be managing one of the European transport group’s bus depots.
At the age of 24 years Purcell became Arriva North East’s youngest and first female depot manager - taking the helm at Arriva’s Stockton depot in autumn 2008 with responsibility for its 175 drivers and 15 clerical staff.
