Gianfranco Sgro has been named Arriva Group CEO, joining the business from logistics company Kuehne and Nagel, where he is currently Executive Vice-President for Contract Logistics.
After the departure of previous Arriva Group CEO Mike Cooper in late-2024, Executive Chairman David Martin has assumed Group CEO responsibilities.
At Kuehne and Nagel, Sgro has led a multi-billion business with around 53,000 staff across 45 countries.
Martin said Sgro’s experience running complex, high-value operational businesses through periods of change meant he would be ideally positioned to drive. “Arriva's ambition to be the leading passenger transport partner across Europe.”
Sgro's arrival follows that of Martijn Gilbert in July as Managing Director of UK Bus in a return to the industry (LTT920).
