There was a surge in hire bike use in London during the four-day Tube strike last week, with signs that this could encourage behaviour change among frustrated commuters.
TfL’s Santander system of conventional docked bikes was extremely busy, but the biggest boom was in the dockless e-bikes of the private operators Lime, Forest, Voi and Bolt, which were seen as more suitable for longer journeys because of the battery power assistance.
