A German parking inspector has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling more than €1m – worth around £880,000.
Police say unnamed council employee is believed to have removed coins out of parking machines in Kempten and placed them in bank accounts his wife had access to. His wife has also been arrested.
The inspector faces charges relating to 720 alleged incidents of theft, while his wife faces charges of aiding and abetting theft, also in 720 cases.
