Scots councils 'not meeting costs of OAP free travel'

Bus operators in Scotland are carrying concessionary passengers at a loss because local authority reimbursement rates are inadequate, operator FirstGroup has told the Scottish Parliament.

There are currently 16 different concessionary fare schemes operating in Scotland. All must comply with the statutory minimum to offer pensioners free travel after 9.30 on weekdays.
