Government will not change VAT on public charging

Response to House of Lords EV inquiry argues expanding VAT relief would impose additional pressure on the public finances

House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee has warned higher purchase costs, insufficient charging infrastructure and mixed messaging may deter from adopting EV cars

The government is not looking to cut the VAT rate for public charging nor introduced targeted purchase grants for EV drivers.
