The number of local bus passenger journeys in England fell by 61% in the year ending March 2021, annual bus statistics have revealed. In 2020/21, 1.57 billion passenger journeys were made by local bus in England, a fall of 2.5 billion journeys compared with 2019/20.
This was largely due to the lockdown restrictions in the Covid-19 pandemic, according to DfT’s analysis.
