Councils face legal obligation to plan and deliver charging for EVs

Private car park operators may also be required make a minimum chargepoint provision

A statutory duty to plan and deliver for electric vehicle infrastructure could be imposed on local authorities across England and Wales.

The UK government has launched a regulatory review of the zero emission vehicles landscapem, with the consultation being carried out through the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).

Under the plans, primary legislation would give ministers the power to introduce requirements in four areas:
