The amount of rail freight moved across Britain has returned to pre-pandemic levels, reveal new figures from the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
Between April to June 2021 a total of 4.33 billion net tonne-kilometres of rail freight was moved across the network, up 1.3% compared with two years ago and an increase of 36.5% on the same quarter last year.
ORR’s statistics show rail freight continued to have a punctuality figure above 90%, though this was lower than the same quarter in 2020-21...
