Patronage of national rail services in May were less than half pre-pandemic levels, according to the latest Great Britain ‘use of transport modes’ statistics from the DfT. The data includes the week starting 17 May, when the easing of lockdown restrictions began across the UK. Usage on national rail during the week starting 17 May was, on average, 42% of levels on the equivalent week in 2019.
