Lorries powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) only deliver reduced carbon dioxide emissions compared with modern diesels when used for long-haul operations, according to research published by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership. 

The low emission freight and logistics trial was funded by £20m from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and £12m from trial participants.
