Highways England is assessing the likely effects of extending the proposed Greater Manchester clean air zone (CAZ) to cover two trunk roads in the east of the conurbation.
The Greater Manchester councils are currently consulting on the plan to introduce a conurbation-wide Class C CAZ. It would see daily charges imposed on non-compliant buses, coaches, lorries, vans, minibuses, taxis and private hire vehicles. Implementation is scheduled for 2022.
