The Welsh Government is to take over the operation of rail services currently provided by the Wales & Borders franchise in response to the collapse in patronage because of Covid-19.
Since 2018 the Wales & Borders franchise has been operated by a joint venture of Keolis and Amey. The contract was supposed to run to 2033.
A subsidiary of Transport for Wales (TfW) will be set up to run services. It should take over from KeolisAmey next February.
