Better rail services for Cumbria

Transport for the North (TfN) is developing plans for additional rail services in Cumbria. Frequencies could be increased from hourly to half-hourly on the Carlisle to Whitehaven, Barrow to Lancaster, and Oxenholme to Windermere lines. TfN also wants to cut Newcastle-Carlisle rail journey times by up to 20 minutes, Carlisle to Whitehaven journeys by up to 15 minutes, and Barrow to Lancaster by ten-15 minutes.
