Scottish transport secretary Michael Matheson has authorised the next stage of development work into re-opening a five-mile railway to Leven in Fife.
The Levenmouth sustainable transport study has recommended re-opening the line with stations at Leven and Cameron Bridge, together with better bus services and active travel improvements.
The railway connects into the existing Dundee-Edinburgh line at Thornton North Junction, south of Markinch.
