Grayling throws a spanner in STB plans for statutory status

England’s non-statutory sub-national transport bodies (STBs) are preparing a joint response to the DfT after transport secretary Chris Grayling told them he does not want to create more statutory STBs at this time.

Transport for the North is the only STB to have statutory status. Transport for the South East is currently consulting on plans to become a statutory body with wide-ranging powers. Midlands Connect consulted last summer on its plans to become a statutory body but has not...
