The bus industry has urged the Welsh Government not to replicate England’s Bus Services Act 2017, saying it is too bureaucratic.
The Confederation of Passenger Transport also argues that small bus operators – of which Wales has a relatively large number – could be shut out by the complexity of proposed bus franchising in Wales, and cites London’s franchising system becoming “very unattractive” to smaller businesses.
