Transport for London may need to allocate extra funding to build the Barking Riverside rail extension, which will serve a development of 10,800 homes on the north bank of the Thames.
The rail project’s cost is currently £263m, of which £172m is coming from the developer, Barking Riverside Ltd.
But Jon Fox, TfL’s director of rail and sponsored services, told TfL’s programmes and investment committee last month that the project faced cost pressures.
