The phrase cycle superhighways sends out the wrong message to new cyclists and should be abandoned, the London Assembly’s transport committee said this week.
The committee’s report on London’s cycling infrastructure also expresses concern about the slow pace of delivery of some cycle schemes and says the “jury is still out” on the effectiveness of the Quietways programme of routes for cyclists who lack the confidence to use main roads.
