Transport for London is cutting road maintenance expenditure on the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN) and borough roads in response to the end of the Government’s revenue grant.
The general grant paid by Government to TfL was worth £447m in 2016/17 but fell to £228m in 2017/18 and ends completely in April this year. It was never ring-fenced by Government for road expenditure.
