Local authorities are partnering the Welsh Government in “pinch point corridor studies”, with the aim of ensuring that outcomes benefit local as well as trunk roads in each area.
The Government has previously been accused of planning trunk road schemes with insufficient consideration of the impacts on local roads. Critics of the proposed M4 Relief Road at Newport have claimed the scheme overlooks the impacts of generated traffic on connecting local roads.
