Welsh bus companies in the Bus Industry Monitor (BIM) database achieved an overall profit margin of 9.9% in 2015/16, the highest since the database began in 1988/89.
The improvement was partly a result of network shrinkage that cut operating costs significantly. However, recent statistical data from the DfT has shown passenger growth in Wales.
