The Welsh Government has awarded consultant AECOM a contract for initial design work on the Third Menai Crossing project to connect Anglesey with mainland Wales. The work involves identifying a preferred route for the road, which will relieve pressure on the two existing bridges over the Menai Strait – the Menai Bridge, built by Thomas Telford in the 1820s, and Robert Stephenson’s Britannia Bridge.
