Electrification not the only solution for Cardiff Valley lines

The Welsh Government stated this week that diesel passenger trains will be phased out from the core Valley Lines during the next franchise, and conventional electrification is not the only possible alternative.

Infrastructure secretary Ken Skates made a statement on plans for Welsh rolling stock on the day after the DfT announced the deferral of four projects in the Great Western electrification programme.
