Report overplays the benefits of average speed cameras

It’s déjà vu all over again as the new RAC Foundation report on average speed cameras uses the same probability theory to estimate 36% reductions in fatal & serious collisions (FSC) and 16% in personal injury collisions (PIC) on average speed camera routes that led to similarly absurd claims for ‘spot’ cameras (‘Average speed cameras cut crashes by more than a third’ LTT 30 Sep).
