Local authorities should ensure that light segregation of cycle lanes do not present dangers to motorcyclists, says an urban motorcycle design handbook published by Transport for London.
TfL says low-level lane separators (such as plastic armadillos or orcas) are perceived as higher risk by motorcyclists than flexible posts. It suggests installing posts at the start of a run of low level separators, to increase awareness.
