Cornwall Council has no immediate plans to franchise the area’s bus network, despite the Government pledging franchising powers for the council as part of the recently-signed Cornwall devolution deal (LTT 24 Jul).
Bert Biscoe, Cornwall’s portfolio holder for transport, told LTT the franchising powers would be held in reserve, in case partnership working with bus operators failed to deliver the council’s aims.
