Transport for London is consulting on measures to cut emissions from taxis and private hire vehicles (PHVs), which will support the ultra-low emission zone due to be introduced in central London in 2020.
TfL proposes that, from 1 January 2018, all newly licensed taxis and PHVs must be zero emission capable (ZEC – pure electric or hybrids capable of running in zero emission mode). TfL says it is confident that ZEC taxis will be available for sale from 2017.
