North Somerset Council looks set to become the first local authority to promote a development consent order (DCO) for a railway project.
The Portishead railway re-opening is part of the MetroWest plans to enhance the local rail network in the Bristol area. The re-opening is eligible for the ‘one-stop-shop’ DCO procedure because it is classed as a nationally significant infrastructure project, involving more than 2km of new railway.
