Bus deregulation a disaster, says IPPR

Bus deregulation has failed outside London, according to a new report by left of centre think tank the Institute for Public Policy Research. 

It wants the industry re-regulated so passengers can enjoy similar service protection as is currently the case with London bus and GB rail users.

The IPPR says bus patronage outside London has fallen 32.5% since 1985, but increased 99% in the capital. Outside London, there were above inflation fare increases in England (35%), Wales (34%) and Scotland...
