Haringey Council has dismissed claims that it is failing to properly warn residents when their parking permits are due to expire.
Jim Jenks, a Liberal Democrat spokesman for the environment, revealed that parking fines for out-of-date resident parking permits in the north London borough had doubled from 1,109 in 2010/11 to 2,243 in 2012/13. A total of 1,503 fines were issued from April 2013 to January 2014.
