I note with interest councillor Brian Allinson’s reply to Gavin Smith (Letters LTT 9 Aug). As a resident of Ashton Road and a daily cycle/pedestrian commuter into central Bristol, I would like to make a number of points:

1. Given its continued neglect (& Grade II listed status), I would very much like to see the Ashton Avenue bridge restored. However, its present structural state is not, in itself, an a priori argument for the choice of bus route. The route should be decided on its...
