A34 Wolvercote viaduct, Oxfordshire

Work started this week on the scheme to replace the Wolvercote viaduct on the A34 dual carriageway Oxford Western bypass and to modify Peartree Hill junction. A new 250-metre-long viaduct will be built next to the existing one that carries the A34 over the River Thames flood plain, the A40 Oxford to Cheltenham road, the Oxford Canal and the Oxford to Birmingham railway line. The existing viaduct will be demolished following the opening of the new one. The work should be completed by 2012....
