UK operator Stagecoach Group is to trial a new smartphone app developed by global mobility solutions specialist Vix Technology, enabling bus users to receive, store and validate their bus tickets using their mobile phones.
The initial trial will take place on Stagecoach buses across Cambridgeshire, including those on the Cambridge Park & Ride and Guided Busway services. The system will use near field communications (NFC) and has been developed on the Android platform.
