Tougher controls on bailiffs feature in updated National Standards

The National Standards for civil enforcement agents have been updated in a bid to give the public more protection against rogue bailiffs. The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) said the amended voluntary code will tackle intimidating and threatening behaviour and prevent bailiffs from misrepresenting their powers. 

Under the updated standards bailiffs must not behave in a threatening manner or use unlawful force to gain access to a home or business, and should avoid discussing the debt with anyone...
