Cambridgeshire’s busway: fast, but what is its purpose?

My journey on the Cambridge guided busway was not as blissful as yours.

On leaving Cambridge station, I looked for the guided bus and was directed to a shed. Inside the shed was a teenager who gave me a timetable and pointed across the road. A couple of people on a pavement assured me that the guided bus would arrive soon. When it did I asked for Huntingdon and the driver told me to change at St Ives for a different bus. Seamless journey it is not.
