Council opposes slowing down journeys to cut CO2

Western Isles Council has criticised a Scottish Government suggestion to slow down ferry services as a way of cutting carbon dioxide emissions.

The Scottish Government put forward the idea in a consultation on the future of ferry services. It said slowing services down would also cut operator fuel costs.
