Hampshire County Council is to invest £1.1m in two new salt barns and 1,000 salt bins in order to help keep roads and footways clear if there is another severe winter.
Hampshire is to increase its rock salt stockpiling from 12,000 tonnes, which already exceeds the recommended national guidelines, and so needs additional storage facilities. In future, it will buy 18,000 tonnes.
