A final decision on plans to build a second runway at Stansted Airport may not be made for another five years, after BAA conceded that a public inquiry into the plans was unlikely to begin until 2012 at the earliest.
The public inquiry into the Stansted Generation 2 plans was scheduled to start last April but was delayed by the Competition Commission’s inquiry into BAA.
