The DfT has announced that a public inquiry will be held into the Heysham to M6 link road scheme. Following Lancashire County Council’s invitation to seven contractors last year to bid for building the scheme (LTT 18 Dec 09) the council says it intends to appoint a contractor in mid-March. A 4.8km-long two-lane dual carriageway road will connect the previously built section of the A683 Heysham to M6 Link to the M6 junction 34. No date has yet been set for the inquiry.
