Traveline Scotland’s John Elliot has had a long career in the industry and he is now helping switch Scotland onto the public transport option

“I will never forget it. There was a big steep hill and most passengers on the bus service would get on at the top and get off at the bottom,” reminisces Traveline Scotland chief executive John Elliot.

“It was a pretty short journey and most conductors would only collect about four or five fares before reaching the bottom of the hill, but this one conductor always stopped the bus halfway so he could collect them all.”
