2008: well what a year for all of us that was!

2008 was a year of surprises with economic woes and fluctuating oil prices. The government also continued to meddle with the transport industry leading Ben Colson to note that at least some things stay the same

This time last year a few pundits were suggesting that an economic collapse was imminent, but for the majority they were just an eccentric minority. There were clear signals that fuel prices would be rising, but who would have thought that they would collapse again so quickly? Who would have thought that the banks would be partially nationalised, with the strangest of sights possible, as arch-capitalist bankers queued up to surrender equity to government?
