The Government must find a proper mechanism for the private sector to invest in Britain’s rail infrastructure, according to a new report on the rail industry’s finances.

This year’s annual Rail Industry Monitor report from transport consultancy TAS highlights a £4.9bn shortfall in rail investment compared with John Prescott’s 10-Year Plan.
