Network Rail needs chair with rail background

Network Rail’s job spec for a new chair does not require a rail background. This is telling, says John Nelson. What is needed, is a well respected railway figure who has an understanding of how the whole supply chain works

The first thing that is apparent about the background information provided by the recruitment agency engaged to secure a new “chair” for Network Rail is that experience of the railway is neither a prerequisite nor even considered desirable.
