Cycle accidents don't increase in line with increased cycling trips

In her Viewpoint article (LTT 8 Aug), Sian Thornthwaite questioned whether children should be encouraged to cycle to school. The question appears a fair one, as the analysis showed the risk of serious casualty in journeys to school had a higher average for cyclists than pedestrians.
