This Government doesn't believe in democratic decision-making

I seek enlightenment. In your 27 June issue, John Whitelegg's interesting interview mentioned that he had been studying law, so that he could better deal with planning matters.

It seems to me that Communities secretary Hazel Blears has virtually done away with planning by reducing decision-making to a three-person quango (the Infrastructure Planning Commission) who will "listen" but decide. Don't anybody tell me that her 'concession' for a review after a couple of years has any weight...
